A little history

Skyview Acres has been in the Linscott Family name since 1840.  Since then it has been a Hereford Beef Farm, a Holstein Dairy Farm (sold in 1974) and was the home to pigs, sheep and chickens. In the late 1930s and early 1940s the Linscott brothers, Paul and Phillip, showed their prize winning Horned Hereford cattle at the Athens County Fair as well at the Ohio State Fair and the Pittsburgh and Chicago Cattle Shows.

The land once harvested crops of hay, wheat, oat and corn as well as peach, plum and cherry trees.  In addition, at one time, the farm included over 100 apple trees of several varieties of which apples and cider were sold to the community every fall.

The farm always had large gardens of potatoes, sweet corn, onions, watermelon, and muskmelon.  Grandad Linscott would sell fresh this produce along with chicken eggs in Glouster from the trunk of his car (the pre-Farmer’s Market)!

Currently, Skyview Acres is home to over 60 Angus-Shorthorn Cross Beef Cattle.

“Wonderful!”

“I recently attended a wedding and reception at the beautiful Skyview Acres located in the rolling hills of the Ohio countryside.  The red barn is a wonderful and accommodating venue in a quaint and peaceful environment.  The wood board walls in  the barn are beautiful and give a special touch.  There was a nice food prep area and restroom facilities.  There was also a  beautiful view of a cabin and small pond with water fountains.  I would give this five stars.”

“Lovely”

“We were married at Skyview Acres in August, 2019.  It was the perfect country setting for our guests in the rolling hills of S.E. Ohio.  The outdoor ceremony has a lovely view of a pond with flowing water fountains and woods in the background. Reception was held inside the air-conditioned red barn with plenty of space for guests to mingle.

The owners are extremely accommodating in every way, from set-up to clean-up.  A huge thank-you to Jane Linscott.  It was our pleasure to use this venue for our wedding.”

“Amazing”

“Skyview is absolutely beautiful.  There is plenty of room for all of your guests in the barn (with AC – life saver in the summer).  We knew we would have quite a lot of children at our wedding, and they had a blast running and playing outside!  Jane is amazing and will help in every way she can to make your big day special!”
